Retuning/updating

Do I need to retune my iDTV or digital box / How do I re-tune it?
Yes, if you get your signal through an aerial it is worth retuning regularly to pick up new stations, or find those that have changed channel number. In the run up and at switchover you are likely to find that you need to retune a number of times. For more information see Retuning. Satellite, cable and broadband boxes get automatically retuned and updated.

I've got missing channels what do I do?
Changes to the broadcasting transmitters mean that channel frequencies change. You need to retune to pick up new stations or find those that have changed channel number. For more information see Retuning.

My box has a message saying I must leave it on standby for a forthcoming update. Do I need to?
Digital tuners, like computers, have their own software programmes. This means set top boxes, digital TV recorders and iDTVs can be re-programmed by having updates automatically broadcast to them - as long as the box is left in standby. For more information see Automatic updating.
