West TV region
The Mendip transmitter providing the terrestrial TV signal to Bristol, parts of Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire is switching to a digital-only signal. At stage one (24 March) BBC2 will switch to digital-only. At stage two (7 April) all the remaining analogue TV channels be switched to digital-only.
Please note: homes in Cheltenham and Gloucester served by the Ridge Hill transmitter will not switch to digital-only until 2011. You can use the Digital UK Postcode checker to check which transmitter you are receiving your signal from.
If you receive your TV signal through an aerial on all, or any of your TVs, you will need to take action
- If you haven’t switched to digital, you will lose your TV service
- If you have Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV you’ll need to re-tune your equipment, both for stage one on 24 March and for stage two on 7 April. The exact time of day for switchover will differ across the region.
If you have satellite TV (Sky TV, Freesat from Sky or freesat), cable TV - (e.g Virgin media) or TalkTalk broadband TV - on all of your TV sets you will not be affected. These TV services are already digital and are not affected by switchover.
